Sleep Training

When is the best time to start sleep training?

Navigating the world of sleep training can feel like traversing a maze with no clear path. But fear not, my dear parents, for I'm here to simplify the process and guide you through each stage of your child's sleep journey.

👶 0-2 Months: During these tender early months, sleep training isn't the focus. Instead, prioritize helping your baby establish healthy sleep habits without becoming overtired. Contact naps and stroller naps are perfectly acceptable during this time – whatever helps your little one rest peacefully.

👶 3-4 Months: While still too early for formal sleep training, you can begin laying the groundwork for healthy sleep habits. Introduce the crib as a sleep space for naps, placing your baby down drowsy but awake to foster positive associations. Pay attention to wake windows (typically under 2 hours) and signs of tiredness for smooth transitions to slumber.

👶 4 Months - 2 Years: Once your baby reaches the 4-month mark (based on their actual birth date) and receives the green light from their pediatrician, you're ready to embark on the sleep training journey. This is the ideal time to introduce gentle sleep training methods tailored to your child's needs and development stage.

👶 2+ Years: It's never too late to prioritize healthy sleep habits, even if your child is a bit older. Whether they're 4 or 5 years old, a good night's sleep remains essential for their well-being. Simply select a sleep training approach that aligns with your child's age and temperament to set them up for success.
